Hidden Upthrust
Volume Spread Analysis Glossary
A bar that appears to be an ordinary down-bar—its close is below the prior close—but whose high exceeds the previous bar's high. The bar reached up into new territory during the session but was rejected and closed below the prior close, hiding the up-thrust character behind a down-bar appearance. Combined with weakness in the background, it is a short signal of the same significance as a standard up-thrust; its hidden nature gives a practitioner who spots it an edge over those who miss it.
