No Selling Pressure

Volume Spread Analysis Glossary

A down-bar with a narrow-to-average spread and low volume, closing in the middle or upper portion of the bar, indicating that professional selling is absent on the downside. It is not itself a direct buy signal, but it powerfully confirms strength when it appears in a background that already contains stopping volume, a shake-out, or a selling climax. Without prior strength in the background, low-volume down-bars during the early stages of a bear market are normal and do not indicate strength.
