- Refuse to use the scanner on the colonized client to preserve the device's sterile integrity, for this client.
- Clean the scanner with a standard quaternary ammonium wipe, as it is effective on non-porous plastics.
- Perform the scan, then disinfect all patient-contact surfaces of the machine using a List P chemical wipe.
- Wipe the probe with a 70% alcohol prep pad and return the scanner to the equipment alcove.
