Mill

National Real Estate Exam Glossary

One-tenth of one cent, or one-thousandth of a dollar, used to express property tax rates. To apply a millage rate, multiply the assessed value by the number of mills and divide by 1,000; thus 25 mills on a 200,000 assessment yields 5,000 in tax.
