100-Day Plan
Private Equity glossary · Private Equity Fundamentals
Definition
A detailed value-creation roadmap executed in the first 100 days of PE ownership: leadership decisions, quick wins, governance setup, KPI dashboard, and major initiative kickoffs.
100-Day Plan in plain English
When a private-equity firm buys a company, it doesn't want to drift for a year figuring out what to do — the clock on its investment is already ticking. The 100-Day Plan is the detailed to-do list for the first ~three months of ownership: who's running the place, a few fast 'quick wins' to build momentum, how decisions get made, which numbers (KPIs, the handful of metrics that show if the business is healthy) get tracked, and kicking off the big projects. Think of it like a new head coach's opening playbook — you set the lineup, run a couple of plays you know will score, and lay out the season's game plan before anyone loses focus.
