Financial socialization

Definition
The process by which money attitudes and behaviors are transmitted within a family of origin.
Financial socialization in plain English
A high earner still panic-spends after every bonus because "money disappears in our family." Financial socialization names the process by which money attitudes and behaviors are transmitted within a family of origin. It is the soft-skills diagnosis behind many cash-flow failures, not a portfolio theory formula. On behavioral stems, distinguish inherited scripts (scarcity, secrecy, status spending) from risk tolerance questionnaires. If the client's pattern tracks childhood money stories more than market views, you are in financial socialization territory.
