Revenue in plain English
Revenue is the money a business brings in from doing its actual main thing — selling coffee if you're a coffee shop, or streaming subscriptions if you're Netflix. It's the very top line of the scoreboard, before you subtract any costs, so it's NOT profit; it's the gross haul. Think of it as the total cash in the register from sales, before you pay for the beans, rent, or workers. We keep it separate from side money (like interest on a bank account) because it shows how well the core business is actually doing.
