Definition

A quantity is conserved across stages while rates or mixes change.

Multi-Stage Algebraic Conservation in plain English

Pull Multi-Stage Algebraic Conservation when a quantity is conserved across stages while rates or mixes change. Clues include Before and after, conserved, same total salt, multi-stage mixture. Blueprint: Write a conservation equation for the invariant (salt, work, people). Link stages with that invariant. Why it beats the long way: Tracking only the changing total loses the conserved piece that solves the system. Micro-example: A tank has 40 L of 10% salt. After removing 10 L and adding water, salt is conserved at 4 L. The conserved salt links stages; tracking only the changing volume loses the invariant that solves the system.
