Inference Question
LSAT glossary · LSAT Workbook
Definition
An LR question type asking what must be true based on the stimulus. Requires a fundamentally different mindset from critical-evaluation questions — the student must find what is supported, not what is flawed.
Inference Question in plain English
An Inference question asks: based ONLY on the facts given, what else HAS to be true? Notice the flip in mindset — here you are NOT looking for what's wrong or shaky; you trust every statement completely and just follow it to a conclusion that can't be false. It's like being told 'every student in the room is over 16' and 'Maya is in the room,' so you can safely say 'Maya is over 16.' The right answer is a safe, boring, guaranteed consequence — if an answer only COULD be true or requires a little extra guessing, it's wrong.
