Rasch response probability
NCLEX-RN glossary · Management Of Care
Definition
The mathematical model P(correct)=1/(1+exp[-(theta-b)]) used to estimate the likelihood of a correct answer based on candidate ability and item difficulty.
Rasch response probability in plain English
Nurses must recognize that when ability equals difficulty, the probability threshold is 0.50, and clinical competence is estimated through these data-driven response patterns. A frequent error is confusing a logit-based ability estimate with a raw percentage of correct answers.
