Markup
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Wyckoff'S Laws & The Four Market Phases
Definition
The phase of gradual price advance following accumulation; insiders build confidence to attract buyers.
Markup in plain English
Markup is the slow, steady climb phase — price rising bit by bit after the big players have quietly bought up a lot at cheap prices. It's the opposite of markdown. Think of it like a trending sneaker: as more people notice it going up, they want in too, and each new buyer nudges the price higher. The insiders let this rise unfold on purpose, because a calm, confident-looking uptrend attracts the crowd of buyers they'll eventually sell to.
