Defensive interval ratio

CFA Level I Glossary

The defensive interval ratio measures liquidity in days of survival rather than as a coverage multiple. It is liquid assets divided by daily cash operating expenditures, answering how long the firm could fund operations without additional inflows. Higher days mean more short-term resilience. Do not confuse it with the current or quick ratio, which compare stocks of assets to liabilities rather than to daily burn.
