Material nonpublic information is information a reasonable investor would want to know that has not yet been broadly disseminated. Trading on it or tipping others is prohibited under Standard II(A) and securities law concepts. Mosaic theory allows nonmaterial nonpublic pieces combined with public analysis, not true MNPI. Rationalizing that “everyone in the industry knows” does not make information public.
