The function a statement performs, such as evidence, concession, intermediate conclusion, or main conclusion.
Argument Role in plain English
Read the statement in relation to what comes before and after it. Ask whether the author is supporting a claim, acknowledging an objection, drawing a smaller conclusion, or stating the final point.
