Mode
GMAT glossary · Quantitative Reasoning
Definition
The most frequently occurring value in a data set.
Mode in plain English
The mode is simply the value that shows up most often in a list of numbers. If you asked ten friends their shoe size and "9" came up more than any other size, then 9 is the mode. It's useful when you care about what's most common or most popular rather than the average, a shoe store cares far more about the mode (which size sells most) than the average size. A set can even have two modes, or none at all if nothing repeats.
