Sequence
GMAT glossary · Quantitative Reasoning
Definition
An ordered list of numbers defined by a rule.
Sequence in plain English
A sequence is an ordered list of numbers where order matters and there's a rule connecting them, like 2, 4, 6, 8, dots where the rule is 'add 2 each time.' The point is predictability: once you know the rule, you can jump to the 100th term without writing out the first 99. Think of it like stairs where every step rises the same amount, spot the pattern of one step and you know exactly how high any step sits.
