Rising Triangle
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Support, Resistance & Breakout Mechanics
Definition
A bullish congestion pattern with a flat ceiling and rising lows, signalling weakening selling pressure.
Rising Triangle in plain English
Picture price bumping its head on the same ceiling over and over, but each time the dips underneath get shallower — the lows keep rising toward that ceiling. That squeezing-upward shape is a rising triangle, and it hints that sellers are running out of ammo: every time price falls, buyers step in sooner and higher. Think of a beach ball being pushed under water that you press down less and less each time — eventually it pops up through the surface. Traders read this as buyers quietly winning, often just before price breaks up through the ceiling.
