Break-even stop
Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Auction Theory & Market Profile (TPO)
Definition
A stop-loss level moved to the entry price after a trade has advanced favorably by a pre-specified amount. Eliminates further risk on the position.
Break-even stop in plain English
When you buy something to trade, you usually set a "stop-loss" — a pre-decided price where you'll bail out to cap your loss if it drops. A break-even stop is when your trade has already moved nicely in your favor, so you slide that exit up to your original entry price. Now the worst that can happen is you get out for exactly what you paid — no loss. It's like locking in a "can't-lose" position: the trade either keeps winning or costs you nothing (aside from fees).
