Rejection
Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Trading Strategies & Execution
Definition
Price action in which the market approaches a level, trades briefly through it, and reverses sharply. The canonical pattern: long wicks on the bar or bars at the level.
Rejection in plain English
Rejection is the market's way of saying "nope, not this price." Price pushes up to (or slightly past) some important level, but instead of settling there it gets slapped back hard and quickly reverses direction. On a candlestick chart this leaves a long "wick" — a thin tail sticking out — showing price visited that level but couldn't stay. It's like a diver hitting the water, briefly going under, then popping straight back to the surface: the deep spot got tested and refused.
