Close Position

Volume Spread Analysis Glossary

The location of a bar's close within its range, expressed as a percentage: Close Position = (Close - Low)/(High - Low) × 100%. It reveals who won the battle between buyers and sellers by the end of the period and is one of the three primary VSA inputs. VSA divides the range into three zones—upper third (67–100%, buyers dominated), middle third (34–66%, indecisive), and lower third (0–33%, sellers dominated)—and the close-position zone, combined with bar direction, spread, and volume, determines the meaning of every signal.
