Any wave that moves against the trend of the next larger degree. Corrective waves are labelled with letters (A, B, C, D, E).
Corrective Wave in plain English
Markets don't move in a straight line — they push forward, then pull back, then push again. A corrective wave is one of those pullbacks: a move that temporarily goes against the direction of the bigger trend it's part of, like a wave sliding back down the beach before the tide pushes further up. To keep them straight from the forward 'push' waves (which get numbers), Elliott labels these countertrend moves with letters: A, B, C, D, E.
