Thrust
Elliott Wave Theory glossary · Corrective Structures & Sub Wave Math
Definition
The sharp price move that follows the completion of a triangle pattern, typically travelling a distance approximately equal to the widest wave of the triangle.
Thrust in plain English
A triangle is a sideways, coiling pattern where price swings get smaller and smaller, squeezing into a point — like a spring being wound tighter. A thrust is the explosive breakout that fires off once that coil finishes, usually a fast move in one direction. As a rough rule of thumb, the thrust travels about as far as the widest swing inside the triangle, which gives traders a ballpark target for how far the breakout might run.
