Fractal
Elliott Wave Theory glossary · Core Axioms & Motive Wave Rules
Definition
A structure that exhibits self-similarity at different scales. In EWP, each wave contains sub-waves that obey the same rules as the larger wave.
Fractal in plain English
Fractal just means a shape that looks the same whether you zoom in or zoom out — the small pieces echo the big picture. A coastline is the classic example: a tiny inlet has the same jagged in-and-out look as the whole rugged coast seen from space. In Elliott Wave, this matters because a big wave is built from smaller waves that follow the exact same rules, so the same pattern-reading skill works at every zoom level, from a one-minute chart to a decade-long trend.
