Definition
A country's system of money, work, and trade.
Economy / economic in plain English
An economy is the whole system of how a country makes money, does jobs, and buys and sells things, all tangled together. Every time someone works, gets paid, and spends that pay at a store which then pays its own workers, that's the economy in motion, like blood circulating through a body. "Economic" is just the adjective form, meaning "having to do with money, work, and trade" (an economic problem, an economic decision). When people say the economy is strong or weak, they mean the overall health of all that activity.
