Supreme

Definition
Highest - the supreme law; the Supreme Court.
Supreme in plain English
'Supreme' simply means highest, the top of the ladder with nothing above it. In government it shows up in two big ways: the Constitution is called the 'supreme law of the land,' meaning no other law can beat it, and the 'Supreme Court' is the highest court, meaning no court can overrule its final decisions. So whenever you see 'supreme,' picture the very top rung that everything else has to answer to.
