Walking the stop in plain English
A stop-loss is a safety exit that automatically sells if a trade moves against you past a set price, capping your loss. "Walking the stop" means that as a trade goes your way and profits build, you keep nudging that safety exit forward to lock in the gains — so a winner can't easily turn back into a loser. Think of it like a hiker's safety rope: as you climb higher, you keep re-anchoring it beneath you, so even if you slip you can only fall so far. You stay fully in the trade and keep your upside, but your worst-case outcome quietly improves as you go.
