Binary Data
GMAT glossary · GMAT
Definition
Data with exactly two possible values (e.g., yes/no, true/false, 0/1).
Binary Data in plain English
Binary data is information that can only land on one of two settings, never a third. Yes or no, on or off, heads or tails, 1 or 0: those are the only choices. It's like a light switch, which is either up or down with no in-between. This matters because two-outcome situations are simple to count, chart, and reason about, so they show up constantly in probability and statistics.
