Deconstructing the Core
GMAT glossary · Verbal Reasoning
Definition
Inventory premise vs conclusion before opening CR choices.
Deconstructing the Core in plain English
Pull Deconstructing the Core on any Critical Reasoning item before you shop the menu. Underline the conclusion, list only the stated premises, and name the leap the argument still needs. Shopping choices before you know the conclusion lets a nearby fact impersonate the finish. Micro-example: premises about a city's bike lanes and a drop in accidents, conclusion that lanes caused the drop. The core leap is causation from correlation , every useful choice must touch that bridge.
