Pre-Thinking (Predicting the Gap)
GMAT glossary · Verbal Reasoning
Definition
Predict the strengthen/weaken/explain leap before reading choices.
Pre-Thinking (Predicting the Gap) in plain English
Use Pre-Thinking (Predicting the Gap) on Strengthen, Weaken, Explain/Paradox, or Plan questions. Name the conclusion and the missing bridge (or rival cause) in one sentence, then hunt that shape in the menu. Reading every choice first invites a polished wrong story that never touches the gap. Do not force Pre-Thinking onto Assumption, Evaluate, Boldface, or Main Point , those have their own named moves.
