The second-highest executive officer; first in line if the President cannot serve.
Vice President in plain English
Think of the Vice President as the country's official "backup quarterback" for the presidency. They're the number-two person in the executive branch, and if the President dies, resigns, or can't do the job, the VP steps in and takes over immediately. They also have a side job as President of the Senate, where they can cast the tie-breaking vote when senators are split evenly. Knowing who the current VP is matters for the citizenship test, and that name can change after an election.
