Definition
The running sum of delta over a time window. A time series of CVD reveals net aggressive pressure; divergences between price and CVD signal exhaustion.
CVD (Cumulative Volume Delta) in plain English
CVD tracks the tug-of-war between eager buyers and eager sellers, and keeps a running score. "Delta" is how much aggressive buying beat aggressive selling (or vice versa) in a moment; CVD just keeps adding those up so you can see the net pressure building over time. Here's the powerful part: if price keeps climbing but the CVD running score STOPS climbing, it's a warning — price is rising without real buying muscle behind it, hinting the move is running out of gas (a "divergence"). It's like a crowd still cheering while the actual energy in the room quietly drains away — the mismatch tells you the party may be ending.
