D-shape profile

Definition
A symmetric, bell-shaped Volume Profile resembling a 'D' rotated 90°. Characterizes a balanced auction in which price rotated around a central area of value.
D-shape profile in plain English
A D-shape profile is what a calm, agreed-upon market looks like: most trading clusters around one central "fair" price, tapering off above and below, so the volume picture bulges in the middle like the letter D lying on its side. This shape signals "balance" — buyers and sellers basically agree on value and price is just gently rotating around that center, not going anywhere in a hurry. Picture where students hang out at lunch: a few at the far edges, but most packed around the popular middle tables — that dense center is the accepted "value area." Spotting a D-shape tells a trader the market is resting and range-bound rather than trending decisively.
