Combination
Elliott Wave Theory glossary · Complex Corrections & Combination Logic
Definition
A complex corrective structure formed by linking two or more basic corrective patterns with X-waves.
Combination in plain English
Corrections — the pullback phases against the main trend — sometimes get messy, and a combination is when the market strings together two or more simple pullback shapes to make one longer, more complicated one. The pieces are joined by connectors called X-waves, which act like the word 'and' linking two mini-patterns into a single stretch. Imagine a delay on the highway that isn't one clean slowdown but 'a jam, then a short clear patch, then another jam' — same overall idea of a pause, just built from parts. Recognizing a combination keeps a trader from mistaking one long, choppy correction for the start of a brand-new trend.
