Double Zigzag
Elliott Wave Theory glossary · Complex Corrections & Combination Logic
Definition
A combination pattern consisting of two zigzag corrections connected by an X-wave.
Double Zigzag in plain English
When a market moves against its main trend, it 'corrects' — a temporary reversal before the trend resumes. The simplest correction is a zigzag: a sharp drop, a small bounce, another sharp drop, forming a lightning-bolt shape. Sometimes one zigzag isn't deep enough to do the job, so the market stacks two of them back-to-back, glued together by a connecting move called an X-wave — that's a double zigzag. Think of it as two lightning bolts linked by a short bridge, giving the correction more time and distance to play out.
