Ask Price
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
The lowest price at which a market maker will sell.
Ask Price in plain English
The ask price is simply the cheapest price someone is currently willing to sell to you at — the sticker price if you want to buy right now. Think of a market with many sellers shouting prices; the ask is the lowest of those offers, because naturally you'll take the best (lowest) deal available. It pairs with the bid (the highest price a buyer will pay), and the small gap between them is called the spread. If you want to buy instantly, you pay the ask.
