Last Point of Support (LPS)

Volume Price Analysis glossary · Testing Supply/Demand & Continuation Signals

Definition

A higher low formed after a Sign of Strength, where price retests prior resistance now acting as support; the ideal long entry in Wyckoff accumulation.

Last Point of Support (LPS) in plain English

This is the mirror image of the Last Point of Supply, but for a market that's about to rise. After big players have quietly accumulated and price shows a 'Sign of Strength,' it often dips back to test the old ceiling it just broke through — and that ceiling now acts as a floor holding price up. The dip makes a HIGHER low than before, showing buyers are stepping in earlier and more eagerly. That final dip is the Last Point of Support: in Wyckoff's playbook, the ideal, low-risk spot to buy before the big move up.
