Climactic Volume
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Climactic Price Action & Reversal Dynamics
Definition
Volume bars that are 2-3× the recent average, typically appearing at exhaustion points (Selling Climax, Buying Climax) or breakouts.
Climactic Volume in plain English
Climactic volume is a sudden, huge burst of trading — roughly two to three times the recent normal amount — and it usually marks a turning point or a big breakout. Such a spike means a crowd of buyers and sellers all rushed in at once, which often signals exhaustion: the last panicked sellers finally giving up at a bottom, or the last excited buyers piling in at a top. Imagine a store on the final hour of a blowout sale — the wild stampede at the register is the clue that this frenzy can't last much longer. When you see volume balloon far above average, pay attention: something is climaxing.
