Flexible Profile
Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Value Migration & Reference Levels
Definition
A Volume Profile constructed over a programmatically-defined dynamic window (e.g., 'every time price closes below level X').
Flexible Profile in plain English
Most volume profiles are built over a fixed slice of time — say, one trading day — showing how much was traded at each price. A Flexible Profile throws out the clock and instead lets a rule decide which moments to include, so you can study exactly the situations you care about. For example, "gather up the volume from every single time price closed below $50" and stack only those into one profile. It's like making a highlight reel: instead of watching the whole game, you splice together just the plays that fit your condition, so patterns hidden inside those specific moments jump out.
