POC (Point of Control)
Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Value Migration & Reference Levels
Definition
The price within a Volume Profile at which the greatest volume has transacted. The profile's high-liquidity core.
POC (Point of Control) in plain English
The POC is simply the one price where the MOST trading happened during a chosen period — the busiest price of all. Imagine a food court over a whole day: the stall with the longest line is where the crowd kept coming back, and that's the POC of the market — the price buyers and sellers agreed to trade at more than any other. It matters because that heavily-traded price acts like a magnet and a fair-value anchor; price often returns to it, and traders watch how the market behaves when it revisits that spot.
