Delta Volume
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
The net difference between volume traded at the ask (buyer-initiated) and volume traded at the bid (seller-initiated) within a single candle; positive delta indicates net buying pressure.
Delta Volume in plain English
Every trade has a buyer and a seller, but you can tell who was more eager: buyers who chomp at the higher 'ask' price are pushing up, sellers who dump at the lower 'bid' price are pushing down. Delta volume is just the scoreboard — eager-buyer volume minus eager-seller volume inside one candle. A positive number means buyers were the pushy ones (net buying pressure); negative means sellers dominated. It's like counting a crowd going through two doors: more people forcing their way IN than OUT tells you the room is filling up.
