Doji
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
A candlestick where the open and close are the same (or very close), indicating indecision.
Doji in plain English
A doji is a single candle on a price chart where the price opened and closed at basically the same spot, even though it may have jumped around in between. Because a candle's body shows the gap between open and close, a doji has almost no body — it looks like a plus sign or a cross. That tiny body means the market was indecisive: buyers and sellers fought all session and ended in a tie, like a tug-of-war that snaps back to the center. Traders watch dojis because that standoff often appears right before the market picks a new direction.
