Ease of Movement (EoM)
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
Concept that price should move 'easily' on supportive volume in a healthy trend; deteriorating ease of movement (more volume for less price gain) flags reversal risk.
Ease of Movement (EoM) in plain English
Ease of Movement asks a common-sense question: how hard did the market have to work to move the price? In a healthy trend, price should glide upward on strong, supportive volume — lots of willing buyers lifting it smoothly. When you start seeing heavy volume but only tiny price gains, that's like flooring the gas pedal while the car barely inches forward — the engine is straining, something's wrong. That deteriorating 'ease' is a warning that the trend is running out of fuel and could reverse.
