Lower High / Lower Low
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
Sequential price structure confirming downtrend: each successive swing low undercuts the prior, each rally high stays below the prior rally high.
Lower High / Lower Low in plain English
Imagine walking down a staircase: each step you land on is lower than the last, and even when you hop up a bit, you never get back as high as before. That's a downtrend on a price chart. A 'lower low' means the price dips to a new bottom below the previous bottom; a 'lower high' means each little bounce back up peaks below the previous bounce. When you see this pattern repeat, it's the market's honest way of telling you sellers are in charge and the price is trending down.
