Sweep
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
A rapid price excursion through a liquidity pool that triggers stops, then immediately reverses — a classic stop-hunt outcome.
Sweep in plain English
A "liquidity pool" is just a spot on the chart where lots of pending orders (like stop-losses) are stacked up, waiting to fire. A sweep is when price stabs quickly through that spot, sets off all those orders, and then instantly reverses — so the whole excursion was more about grabbing those orders than truly going that direction. It's the visible fingerprint of a stop hunt: a fast in-and-out jab, like a hand reaching into a cookie jar and pulling straight back out.
