Three Push Pattern
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Volume Price Analysis
Definition
Three successive higher highs (in an advance) or lower lows (in a decline), each on diminishing volume; classic exhaustion signature.
Three Push Pattern in plain English
This is a picture of a trend running out of gas. In a rise you'll see three "pushes" to higher and higher peaks; in a fall, three lower and lower bottoms — but each push happens on shrinking volume, meaning fewer and fewer traders bother to join. Less fuel on every push is the tell that the move is exhausted and about to turn. Think of a bouncing ball: three bounces, each a little weaker, until it just can't lift off again.
