Whitlock Software's Product Vision Board includes a 'Business Goals' section. One goal is: 'Increase annual revenue by $2M'. The team argues that they cannot track this within a single sprint.

How should the project manager guide the team?

  1. Inform the sponsor that the team is refusing to work toward the organization's financial objectives.
  2. Explain that business goals are long-term objectives that the team's short-term outcomes (Key Results) should eventually support.
  3. Direct the team to rewrite the goal so it can be fully achieved within the current two-week iteration, after reviewing the current risk register entries.
  4. Remove the goal from the Vision Board to avoid demotivating the team with unachievable targets.
