Secondary Test (ST)
Volume Price Analysis glossary · Climactic Price Action & Reversal Dynamics
Definition
A return to or near the Selling Climax low on lower volume, confirming that selling pressure has been exhausted.
Secondary Test (ST) in plain English
After a market crashes to a low in a panic (a Selling Climax), price will often drift back down later to retest that same low — but this time on much lower volume, meaning far fewer people are actually selling. That quiet re-visit is the Secondary Test, and the low volume is the good news: it shows the panic is spent and there's almost no selling pressure left. It's like poking a bruise a second time and barely feeling it — proof the worst has passed and the market may be ready to head back up.
