Confluence
Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Profile Anatomy & Volume Nodes
Definition
The coincidence of multiple independent analytical signals at the same price level. A level is called confluent when structure from multiple timeframes or analytical methods agrees on it.
Confluence in plain English
Confluence just means "several different clues all pointing to the same spot." In trading, if a price level looks important according to one method — and ALSO looks important according to a totally different method, and a third — that agreement makes the level far more trustworthy than any single clue alone. It's like deciding a restaurant is genuinely good because your friend, a review site, and a food critic all independently rave about it; independent sources agreeing is much stronger than one opinion. When many timeframes or techniques converge on the same price, traders call that level "confluent" and pay extra attention to it.
