Confluence score

Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Profile Anatomy & Volume Nodes

Definition

A quantitative rating of a candidate price level assigned by summing point values for each type of reference (HVN, POC, naked POC, round number, etc.) the level coincides with.

Confluence score in plain English

A confluence score turns that "many clues agree" idea into an actual number so you can compare levels objectively instead of eyeballing them. You give points to a price for each meaningful thing it lines up with — a high-volume node, a point of control, a round number, and so on — then add the points up; a higher total means more reasons to respect that level. It's like a checklist where each box ticked adds to the score, so a price that ticks five boxes clearly outranks one that ticks two. The exact reference types and point values are just the recipe a trader chooses; the goal is a fast, consistent way to rank which prices deserve the most attention.
