Volume Profile Analysis glossary · Profile Anatomy & Volume Nodes
Definition
A price level at a psychologically significant integer (e.g., ES 4500, EUR/USD 1.1000). Round numbers attract resting liquidity and frequently coincide with HVNs.
Round number in plain English
A round number is a price at a clean, memorable level — like a stock index hitting exactly 4500 or a currency touching 1.1000 — that sticks in people's heads simply because it's tidy. Because so many traders mentally anchor to these levels, they tend to place their buy and sell orders right there, which piles up a lot of activity at that price. It's like how a store prices things at $100 and crowds naturally gather around that milestone number rather than $97.32. These levels often become spots where tons of trading happens (high-volume nodes), so the price frequently pauses, bounces, or stalls there.
